EPOS ON supports the optimisation and evolution of the EPOS Research Infrastructure through a coordinated set of activities addressing scientific services, societal applications, user engagement, international cooperation, and long-term sustainability.
The project is organised into six interconnected Work Packages, each contributing to a specific aspect of EPOS development while supporting a common vision: strengthening EPOS as a sustainable, user-oriented and internationally recognised research infrastructure for solid Earth science.
WP1 – Project Management, Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication
WP1 ensures the effective coordination and management of the project. It supports governance, monitoring, communication, dissemination and exploitation activities, while promoting engagement with scientific communities, stakeholders and policymakers.
WP2 – Enhancing Services for Science
WP2 expands and improves the EPOS service portfolio by integrating new scientific services, supporting multidisciplinary research, engaging new scientific communities and exploring innovative computational approaches. The Work Package also contributes to the development of new workflows and advanced digital capabilities for Earth science research.
WP3 – Contribution to Tackle Societal Challenges
WP3 strengthens the contribution of EPOS to society by enhancing services relevant to risk management, natural hazards, environmental sustainability and evidence-based decision-making. Activities address topics such as earthquake and tsunami services, early warning support, ethical aspects of service provision, and environmental impact assessment.
WP4 – Strengthening Impact through User Engagement
WP4 focuses on understanding and responding to user needs. It supports the implementation of the EPOS User Strategy, promotes training and communication activities, and strengthens the engagement of scientific communities, particularly early-career researchers.
WP5 – Enlarging European and International Collaborations
WP5 reinforces cooperation with European and international research infrastructures, organisations and initiatives. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative activities, it strengthens the international dimension of EPOS and promotes the global exchange of data, expertise and best practices.
WP6 – Optimization and Evolution of the EPOS Research Infrastructure
WP6 integrates the results of all project activities and translates them into recommendations supporting the future development of EPOS. It contributes to long-term sustainability, supports engagement with national stakeholders, and develops tools that facilitate the management and evolution of the infrastructure.
