Save the date and register now for the scientific workshop on Mining and Post-Mining Seismicity organised by EPOS-Sweden and the RFCS PostminQuake project. The registration is open till 6 September.
Mining-induced seismicity is a well-known issue that is becoming increasingly important as the underground mines go deeper and deeper. In addition, recent research demonstrates the importance of considering the induced seismic hazard in mine-closure procedures, but until now post-mining seismicity has been poorly studied.
This workshop will bring together mining engineers from all across Europe and the research community involved in the EPOS-TCS (Thematic Core Service) for Anthropogenic Hazards (TCS-AH) and in the RFCS PostminQuake project to discuss the recent advances in both Mining and Post-Mining Seismicity.
The Workshop is organised on two days (20 and 21 September), with the opportunity for a site visit at Malmberget mine (LKAB) on 22 September for a limited number of participants.
Day 1 of the workshop will focus on research results in both mining- and post-mining induced seismicity, while Day 2 will feature an introduction of the EPOS-Sweden project and present the EPOS TCS Anthropogenic Hazards EPISODES platform. A brainstorming will be dedicated to identify challenges and open issues in this field.
The workshop is organised as a hybrid event. For in-person participation, a fee is requested to attendees, to cover the expenses related to coffee breaks, social dinner (optional) and site visit (optional).
Registration for in-person attendance is mandatory and closes on the 6th September.
