The Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV) is recruiting one Technologist – Level III in the thematic area of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, based at INGV’s Rome 1 Section.

The successful candidate will contribute to the next generation of the European Plate Observing System (EPOS) Platform, integrating advanced AI technologies to make access to scientific data and services increasingly intelligent, interoperable and machine-actionable.

The role covers areas including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning; generative AI, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI agent-based systems; software platforms, distributed systems, APIs and digital infrastructure; and Data Science and scientific data analysis.

The position is a 12-month fixed-term employment contract.

Candidates must hold one of the university degrees specified in the official call and must also have either a PhD relevant to the thematic area or specified fields, or at least three years of certified technological and/or professional experience after obtaining the required degree in a relevant field. Good knowledge of English and basic IT skills are also required; foreign candidates must have knowledge of Italian. È richiesto uno dei titoli di laurea indicati nel bando ufficiale e, inoltre, un dottorato di ricerca attinente all’area tematica o agli ambiti indicati nel bando, oppure almeno tre anni di attività tecnologica e/o professionale certificata, successiva al conseguimento della laurea richiesta, in un ambito pertinente. Sono inoltre richieste una buona conoscenza della lingua inglese e dell’informatica di base; per i candidati stranieri è richiesta anche la conoscenza della lingua italiana.
