Initiated in 2017, the implementation of EPOS-DCAT-AP addresses the challenge of integrating heterogeneous, multidisciplinary data from the ten Thematic Core Services (TCS) in EPOS: Anthropogenic Hazards, Geological Information and Modeling, Geomagnetic Observations, GNSS Data and Products, Multi-Scale Laboratories, Near-Fault Observatories, Satellite Data, Seismology, Tsunami, and Volcano Observations.

Each TCS community employs different technologies, data formats, metadata standards, and vocabularies. The EPOS platform is designed to harmonise these diverse elements, ensuring seamless integration.

EPOS-DCAT-AP provides a unified metadata application profile, enabling the description of diverse standards and technologies. This is crucial for standardising metadata exchange and enhancing data discoverability across disciplines. Built upon the DCAT-AP standard, EPOS-DCAT-AP is tailored to meet the specific needs of EPOS' multidisciplinary community.
