The Microbial Resource Research Infrastructure (MIRRI) was granted the legal status of ERIC (European Research Consortium) by the European Commission on 16 June 2022.
With this decision, MMRI-ERIC becomes the 24th established ERIC since 2011. Its statutory seat is located in Braga, Portugal. The other founding members are Belgium, France, Latvia and Spain.
MIRRI is the pan-European distributed Research Infrastructure for the preservation, systematic investigation, provision and valorisation of microbial resources and biodiversity. MIRRI-ERIC will improve complementarity, reduce redundancy and increase the capacity of Microbial domain Biological Resource Centres (mBRCs) to preserve microbial materials.
More information can be found in the MMRI press release and on the EC website.
