The data and services from the Geomagnetic Observations consortium are organized into three areas: geomagnetic data and models; geomagnetic indices and events; magnetotelluric data and models.
EGMODA is based on existing distributed infrastructures, including INTERMAGNET, the World Data Centre for Geomagnetism (Edinburgh) and IMAGE.
EGMODA provides open academic access to geomagnetic data from the magnetic observatory network. This consists of: long time series of absolute-level data held by INTERMAGNET and the WDC; from airborne and shipborne magnetic surveys i.e. short duration regional time series data, held by the WDC; from auroral zone variometer networks, i.e. non-absolute-level magnetic time series data, held by IMAGE.
Open academic access is also provided to geomagnetic models which make available spot and gridded values from models of the core and lithosphere, from the IGRF-International Geomagnetic Reference Field and the WMM-World Magnetic.
It is intended to add the WDMAM-World Digital Magnetic Anomaly Map to the data provided.
EGMODA provides comprehensive data and metadata through a web interface and web services and through direct access (ftp) to databases. The benefit of EGMODA is direct and easy access to all relevant magnetic field data and models (e.g. measured spot or time series data, and modelled spot, gridded and time series data) through a common interface.
ESGI is based on existing distributed infrastructures, including the International Service of Geomagnetic Indices, the Service on Rapid Magnetic Variations and the Service of Kp planetary Index.
ESGI provides tools (discrimination of quiet or disturbed magnetic periods) & proxies with clear common data formats and data archiving/dissemination).
ESGI allows characterisation of geomagnetic activity and space weather conditions (past and in quasi real-time) with comprehensive metadata, through Web interface/services and direct access to databases.
This service provides access to geomagnetic indices, including lists of significant events.
Magnetotelluric data had not previously been collected on the European level. EMTDAMO is thus a service in implementation. An inventory of existing data has been collected with the definition of metadata (survey and instrument information).
The final aim and benefits will be an evolving website and database that, with metadata, will enable access to magnetotelluric time series (magnetic, electric field), magnetotelluric transfer functions and crustal/lithospheric conductivity models in time (last 30 years) and space (Europe).
This database has been partially realised during the EPOS-IP project, but further development remains to be completed. The task will also provide a computational platform to compile several local conductivity models into a single regional model.
