Job Mission and Main Responsibilities

EPOS ERIC is looking for a motivated and skilled Web Developer who will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the EPOS ERIC websites and intranet. 

In order for you to succeed in this role, you will need to be proficient with the latest standards and libraries to fully integrate JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP elements into high efficiency web interfaces and have solid knowledge and experience in programming applications and database technologies:

  • Know HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, node, js, PHP, DRUPAL or other Content Management Systems, and other relevant web design and coding languages
  • Website and software application designing, building, maintaining, scaling (i.e. Git, Google analytics, Web-page performance analysis tools
  • Conferring with teams to resolve conflicts, prioritize needs, develop content criteria, or choose solutions.
  • Directing or performing Website updates
  • Developing or validating test routines and schedules to ensure that test cases mimic external interfaces and address all browser and device types
  • Editing, writing, or designing Website content, and directing team members who produce content
  • Maintaining an understanding of the latest Web applications and programming practices through education, study, and participation in conferences, workshops, and groups.
  • Back up files from Web sites to local directories for recovery
  • Identifying problems uncovered by customer feedback and testing, and correcting or referring problems to appropriate personnel for correction
  • Evaluating code to ensure it meets industry standards, is valid, is properly structured, and is compatible with browsers, devices, or operating systems
  • Determining user needs by analyzing technical requirements
  • Create and mantain software documentation
  • Stay up-to-date on technology

 Essential Skills and Competences

  • Bachelor degree (In Italy “Laurea Triennale”) in Computing Science or in scientific, engineering, math realms, or relevant experience (at least five years) in technical management of web projects
  • Proven experience in web programming (at least five years)
  • Solid knowledge and experience in programming applications 
  • Solid understanding of how web applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
  • Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP, Python and Database technologies

Job Mission and Main Responsibilities

EPOS ERIC is looking for a motivated and skilled Object-Oriented software developer with basic system architect competencies, who will support the IT Officer in the review, maintenance and technical development necessary to ensure the operation of the EPOS Integrated Core Services system software platform at an adequate level of operational quality. This includes developments activities in Object Oriented Programming languages (Java) and e-Infrastructural activities needed to improve and maintain the software platform (Code versioning, CI/CD). All activities will be carried out in a collaborative way within an existing IT team.

In particular, s/he will be responsible for:

  • Development of services in a Micro Services framework
  • Study and analyze innovative technical solutions for improving the Micro-service based system
  • Maintenance and documentation of the existing software
  • Manage and administrate databases based
  • Liaise as responsible person between small groups of developers and the IT Officer
  • Regularly report to the IT Officer about work performed and related issues.

 Essential Skills and Competences

  • Bachelor degree in Computing Science (Italian “Laurea Triennale”) or in scientific, engineering, math realms, or relevant experience (at least three years) in OO development in microservices oriented architecture systems and related technologies (RabbitMQ, Mosquitto)
  • Advanced skills in Unix-Like system usage and administration
  • Documented experience in development with the following languages, frameworks and dev environments:
    • JAVA and Python (Advanced skills required)
    • C, C++, PHP, HTML, Javascript (Good skills required)

  • Good knowledge of standard metadata formats in the environmental domain (e.g. DCAT-AP, CERIF)
  • Documented experience with relational databases (MySQL, Postgres), noSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis), triplestores (Neo4j, Blazegraph)
  • Experience with virtualization environments and tools (Kubernetes, Docker, KVM, VirtualBox)
  • Good skills and documented experience in communication of results (reports and documentation writing, contribution to scientific publications)
  • Collaborative skills and documented experience in participating to collaborative work in teams and leading small groups

Job Mission and Main Responsibilities

EPOS ERIC is looking for a motivated and proficient Communication Assistant; a member of the EPOS ERIC Executive Coordination Office (ECO). The Communication Assistant will support the Communication Officer in developing and promoting the internal and external dissemination and communication activities under the supervision of the Executive Director.

In particular, s/he will be responsible for:

  • drafting, revising and preparing various documents for publication
  • organizing events
  • preparing information documents, publications, brochures, audiovisual products
  • managing and editing communication activities through websites and social media
  • participating in the analysis and media impact of communication activities
  • liaising and coordinating with stakeholders (Publications Office, subcontractors)
  • handling contacts with the press, the media and the public

Required Qualifications and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Communications, Digital Communication and Social Media, Public Relations, International relations or a related field (or relevant discipline)
  • Minimum three years of work experience in communication, public relations and social media and web management
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential)
  • Excellent written and communications skills
  • Excellent command, written, oral, comprehension of English.

Additional Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in brand communication management
  • Experience in photography, video production and graphic design to creat high quality media and multimedia content for dissemination, communication and outreach
  • Experiences in relations with media and the international communities of scientific communication

Job Mission and Main Responsibilities

EPOS ERIC is looking for a motivated and proficient Communication Officer who will act under the supervision of the Executive Director.

The Communication Officer is responsible of coordinating the activities for implementing and adopting EPOS ERIC Communication Plan. The Officer is responsible for ensuring the impact of all the communication activities coordinated by EPOS ERIC.

The Communication Officer develops and implements EPOS’s internal and external communication activities. To achieve this, the Communication Officer is responsible for professionally handling various communication tools, such as EPOS’s internet and intranet sites, social media, press release and press conferences.

S/he formulates and implements public relations strategies, selects and manages communications with external agencies, as well as develops media strategies and other non-campaign activities. S/he is in charge of providing strategic inputs and directions for the EPOS Research Infrastructure, developing style guides, templates, and other materials, developing non-campaign brands while keeping the company’s vision, mission, and objectives in mind; and advising internal and external stakeholders on issues relevant to the EPOS Research Infrastructure.

In particular, s/he will be responsible for:

  • Develops the annual communication plan, identifies objectives and defines the related plans and resources (in accordance with the EPOS ERIC Strategic Plan).
  • Identifies the most appropriate communication tools and methods based on the objectives
  • Filters and conveys the flow of information from EPOS to the media
  • Analyzes and evaluates the communication actions and their impact
  • Designs and manages, with appropriate internal and external collaborations, the institutional website and the social media
  • Supports all the initiatives that have public implications and manages the promotional aspects
  • Designs and manages internal communication, in collaboration with the management
  • Manages marketing materials, including brochures and gadgets
  • Manages activities for publications including the newsletter
  • Runs promotions, either on social media or at physical locations
  • Represents EPOS in public settings and prepares scientists to speak at events
  • Harmonizes EPOS’s communication within the EPOS Community also in relation with high impact events (crisis communication).

Required Qualifications and Experiences

  • Advanced University degree preferably in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations or a related field (or relevant discipline)
  • Minimum five years of work experience in communication, public relations, media or journalism
  • Documented experience in similar position (i.e. solid Earth science Institutions, Research Infrastructures, Research Organizations) with deep understanding of the academic community, its processes, language, motivations
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential)
  • Experience of working with multimedia tools (i.e. broadcast and video or radio technology, social media)
  • Excellent written and communications skills, with a high level of proficiency in content writing and ability to write to a high standard
  • Excellent command, written, oral, comprehension of English

Additional Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in brand communication management
  • Experience in photography, video production and graphic design to creat high quality media and multimedia content for dissemination, communication, and outreach
