WG1. Seismological Observatories and Research Infrastructures
At the current stage Working Group 1 is represented by ORFEUS (Observatories and Research Facilities for European Seismology), one of the partners of the EPOS Preparatory Phase project. ORFEUS is the already existing organisation for coordinating and promoting digital broadband seismology in the European-Mediterranean area. This facilitates the Preparatory Phase of EPOS.
Working Group 1 has defined the following responsibilities:

To provide an overview of existing seismological infrastructures, institutions & contact persons;

To provide feedback from providers & users;

To promote contributors from the seismological community to the EPOS Science Plan;

To define user requirements for the EPOS e-infrastructure;

To coordinate bottom-up EC-projects.
The Working Group 1 task force consists of:

- Salvatore Mazza (INGV, Italy), Co-chair
- Nicos Melis (NOA, Greece), Co-chair
- Torild van Eck (KNMI, the Netherlands), Co-chair
- Antonio Villaseñor (CSIC, Spain), Co-chair
- Jan Zednik (IG ASCR, Czech Republic), Co-chair
Working Group 1 further consists of members from all countries involved in the ORFEUS organisation. The task force is responsible for involving the other WG1 members in ongoing issues.
