TUBITAK MAM
The Earth and Marine Sciences Institute (EMSI) is a department of the TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (http://www.mam.gov.tr/english/index.html); it is a research and technology center conducting strategic researches (in the areas of Natural Resources and Geo-hazards of Geological Origin) using advanced technology based on measurements, monitoring and computer-aided modeling. The TUBITAK MAM earth and marine department leads especially the governmental organizations and municipalities via the multi-disciplinary scientific researches it conducts in accordance to international standards. Its vision is to become “A Center of Excellence” in the areas of active tectonics and the underground resources in Turkey and in the Region. Its mission is to conduct social benefit focused applied researches by multidisciplinary approaches based on measurement, monitoring and modeling in the areas of active tectonics and the underground resources and to disseminate knowledge. The TUBITAK MAM earth and marine department defines its mission as to fill the existing R&D gap in the areas of both Geo-hazards and Natural Resources. The TUBITAK MAM earth and marine department focuses on studies requiring nationwide cooperation and coordination to create synergy within the framework of basic principle of effective and efficient exploitation of limited country resources.
Contribution to the PP.
TUBITAK MAM will participate in WP3, WP6 and WP8. Relevant information on the existing national infrastructures in Turkey will be gathered, and technical, organizational and legal issues relating to their integration identified. The progress and problems will be reported and discussed in the Inter-Activity Preparatory Council, which includes representatives from all the contributing partners.
In WP3 TUBITAK MAM will participate in Tasks 3.2 gathering information on the existing national infrastructures aimed to partnership integration and in Task 3.5 define the nodes of distributed RI.
WP6 the first undertaking is to perform a comprehensive overview/review of the current data infrastructure status for the different Turkish organisations under the leadership of TUBITAK MAM. This will represent the first step towards the integration of national data providers as well as providing an updated mapping of the existing data repositories and available e-infrastructures
WP8 This task will facilitate the EPOS promotion strategy in Turkey by gathering, coordinating and producing promotional material on the EPOS project concept, organization, planning and development within and outside the consortium. This includes preparing exhibition booths, presentations, etc.

Dr. Mustafa Erdik – (Boğaziçi Üniv. Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI) – Director) – integration of KOERI’s seismology network to Turkey EPOS component, he will contribute to EPSO by his active participation in EPOS meetings and workshops.
Dr. Murat Nurlu – (Prime Ministry Disasters and Emergency Management Agency (DEMA) – Director of Earthquake Deparment) – integration of DEMA’s seismology network to Turkey EPOS component, in particular by his active participation in EPOS meetings and workshops.
