IG ASCR

The Institute of Geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic is a public research institution. The Institute conducts fundamental research in physics of the solid Earth and its immediate space environment. Geophysical interpretations include studies of the crust, lithosphere and sub-lithosphere structure, geodynamics of the active regions, climatic changes, solar-terrestrial relations, environmental geomagnetism and many others. Theoretical modelling and numerical simulations of geophysical fields are an integral part of the research programme of the Institute. The activities of the Institute of Geophysics comprise regular observatory monitoring of Earth's physical fields in a broad international collaboration. The research staff of the Institute of Geophysics consists of approximately 60 university-educated personnel organized in five research departments (http://www.ig.cas.cz/en/welcome/).

The Czech Republic relevant institutions for EPOS are mentioned below:

IG-ASCR, Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics Acad. Sci. (IRSM-ASCR), Institute of Physics of the Earth Masaryk University (IPE-MU), Faculty of Mathematics and Physics Charles University (FMP-CU), Faculty of Natural Science, Charles University (FNS-CU), & Research Institute of Geodesy, Topography and Cartography (RIGTC).

In order to reach strong consensus at national level, consultation of all national stakeholders and in particular the above mentioned legal entities will be ensured, in particular by active participation of their representatives in EPOS meetings and workshops. However resources (and personnel costs) necessary to the different work packages are directly committed by the beneficiary only (IG ASC) and not by any of these entities which are third parties to the project.
