EPOS first workshop on legal and governance issues
The first EPOS Workshop on legal and governance issues was successfully hosted by INGV (Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia) on 20-21 June 2011 in Ercolano (NA), in the historical Vesuvius Observatory building (Osservatorio Vesuviano).
The main objective of the workshop was to discuss and consider all possible legal models suitable for the EPOS company structure and debate a possible organisational governance model for the construction phase in line with existing national and European legislation.
The results of a comprehensive legal survey carried out amongst EPOS Partners in the previous months were used as the background material for discussions between the partners involved in WP2 legal work and WP3 governance issues. The workshop was attended by 15 participants from 8 different institutions.
During the workshop, a number of presentations were given, covering existing legal structures from a few countries (France, Italy, UK) with the potential of being considered as a suitable future company legal structure for EPOS in Europe. At the forefront of discussions was the ERIC, which was debated among partners.
Following each presentation, the workshop attendees were able to have useful and informative discussions that highlighted problem areas and suggestions for future workshop agendas.
